The Origin Story
In 1980, Coach Tony Blauer developed a drill called "The Panic Attack"—a unique force-on-force scenario drill that exposed a critical gap in training equipment. Existing protective gear was too bulky, too restrictive, and eliminated the fear of impact. It didn't replicate real confrontations.
Tony spent five years designing High Gear® from the ground up. He tested various foams and plastics until he found the right configuration: gear that transferred impact but also dispersed it. The result was a suit that let you know when you screwed up—without putting you in the hospital.
High Gear® revolutionized scenario training. For the first time, role-players could move naturally, speak clearly, and behave like real adversaries in real environments.
